Client Services:
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • » What kinds of services do you provide?
eMi² mobilizes volunteer teams to provide non-profit consultancy and design services in architecture and engineering for development projects. eMi² can offer: General recommendations and advice about your development project; Technical assessments and/or survey of your site or existing developments; Conceptual Design for project planning and fundraising purposes; Detailed Design for construction of Conceptual Design projects; Limited construction support for Detailed Design projects. The most common client service is Conceptual Design.
  • » Does eMi² fund building projects?
No. EMI / eMi² does not by any means provide any level of funding for any client ministry's development project. eMi² partners with your ministry by providing design services in the areas of architecture and engineering for approved development projects free of cost, providing you with tools to construct or fundraise for your project. In fact, EMI / eMi² ask each client ministry to help financially support the costs involved in providing these services.
  • » Does eMi² help fundraise for building projects?
No. EMI / eMi² does not by any means perform any sort of fundraising for any client ministry's development project. EMI as an international organization partners with your ministry by helping to build awareness about your development project by approving and servicing your particular project with a volunteer project team. The tools produced by this team can be used by you for fundraising purposes within your own network. In fact, EMI / eMi² now ask each client ministry to consider re-investing a small amount of funds raised for their development project back into the ministry of EMI.
  • » Can eMi² service my project without a team or visiting my site?
Not typically. In our opinion, seeing the site for the project is critical to developing an effective design. Sometimes certain preliminary questions can be answered remotely and prior to a team's visit. Mobilizing volunteer teams to serve your ministry is the first half of our ministry goal. We do not tend to take up projects for which we cannot mobilize volunteer teams.
  • » How soon can an eMi² project team come to my site?
The quickest way to get an eMi² project team to visit your site is to provide us a full and thorough application, as outlined under Step 1. No action is taken to organize a team or plan a visit to your site even tentatively until we hold your completed application. If your application is approved, it will take at least 4-6 months for us to assemble a volunteer team of design professionals to visit your site. Client ministries who are not prepared / able to wait for the design service are encouraged to look elsewhere for assistance on their development projects.
  • » How long does a project take?
eMi² approves and schedules design projects in a queue system as completed applications arrive. Sometimes this queue can be 6 to 10 months long. After the project trip, publishing Conceptual Design Documents takes around 2 months. Although there is no fee for this design service, this waiting time is a type of cost you must bear in order to receive it. We believe the design service is well worth the wait.
  • » What do project documents look like?
You can see a number of project document examples here. Documents will be custom made specifically for your project according to your criteria & requirements and the design developed by the project team.
  • » What do you require from us?
The completed application allows us to begin considering your project in our schedule queue. The application describes more fully the terms and conditions of receiving eMi² design service. You can read more about these terms and conditions here.
  • » How do I apply?
Read about the terms of service and fill out a Technical Assistance Application. Send the signed and completed application with all the requested attachments by or by post to:
